Scope and Contents

Jack Richard wrote a letter to a Mr. F. Buchenroth in Jackson, Wyoming asking for information about a man who fought a grizzly with a knife and won. In response from Mr. Buchenroth in Jackson, Wyoming is a story of a man who beat a grizzly bear to death with a club after being mauled.

A separate story about a sheep herder who killed a bear in Utah with his 25-35 rifle. Bear was 9’11” tall with a 14’ log chain wrapped around his right forearm and a 23 lb. bear trap attached to the chain.
