"The Romance of the Yellowstone", 1940-1949
Scope and Contents
Jack Richard submits 2 manuscripts to the Daily Sentinel in Grand Junction CO. One manuscript is about Yellowstone which is for tourist in 1940. The second manuscript is a fiction story about mountain men who inhabit the area around Cody, WY. The first manuscript talks about a Ned Frost inspired story about a grizzly bear who attacks at night. The problem in Yellowstone is that Ned cannot have a gun in Yellowstone to defend himself against the grizzly. There are other stories about interactions with bears that are humorous. The rest of the article is about the history of Yellowstone and how it came to be the world’s first national park.
