Cody Enterprise article about third annual meeting on elk herd populations. Jack Richard speaks in detail about the issues facing the NPS as to how to deal with a population of elk that continues to grow and cause problems. Six different topics appear to have a chance of helping NPS work around the direct reduction of elk by killing excess game. At the time of the article direct trapping, extra game season for Montana and direct reduction are the choices on the table.

Cody Enterprise article 01/31/1963 speaks to using helicopters for herding elk as a big improvement over older methods.

Gun World with a letter from Jack Richard refuting an article by Col. Charles Askins about Yellowstone Elk herd reductions. Jack is very emphatic that Col. Askins was not totally truthful in his article and takes editors to task about not presenting a more balanced article.

Jack Richard article on the first successful herding of elk which may be a better alternative to herding on skis.

Sierra Club bulletin Nov. 1962 speaking to the issue of too many elk in Yellowstone Park. In the article was a piece of how the Aspen trees do not do well as they are eaten by the elk in winter.

Billings Gazette article dated 01/16/1963 stating the problem over grazing in Yellowstone Park. Service clubs in Billings oppose the elk slaughter.

Billings Gazette article dated 01/19/1963 about allowing public hunting in Yellowstone Park, bill did not pass.
