Fairbanks: Headstone-Felix Pedro-discovered gold in the Tanana Hills northeast of Fairbanks on or about July 22,1902 in a small unnamed stream (now known as "Pedro Creek") northeast of Fairbanks, prompting him to exclaim "There's gold in them there hills", and triggering a full-scale gold rush. People watching Inupiaq dance and drummers. Iceberg boating.
City on Nome: Street scenes-Bering Sea Hotel, Breakers Bar, The Glue Pot-Soda Fountain, Wien Alaska Airlines, Q-Cab. The Bering Sea- rock shoreline, building and pier. A.Polet -Eskimo Arts and Crafts-store's exterior has a giant polar bear replica mounted on the face of the store.
Barrow - Now named "Utqiagvik". Brower's Store-Est.1886(?). Top Of The World Hotel Barrow. Brower's Arctic Hotel-Barrow. Dogsled with a team of 8 or 9 dogs-4 children, behind a building on the muddy city street. Group of indigenous people. Icebergs in the Ocean. Rustic looking homes, laundry on a clothesline, sled dogs in the yard with a lot of clutter and a sled. Factory or Processing Plant-outside, a chute, cables and pulleys overhead. Aerial view.
Point Barrow, or Nuvuk is a headland on the Arctic coast, 9 miles NE of Utqiagvik. The location has been home to the Inupiat, an indigenous Inuit ethnic group, for more than 1,500 years. STOCK HOUSE -Aug.1961 and May 1962. Flowering bushes and trees. Stuccoed archway at the top of outdoor steps and a sign pointing down to "Office". Picknic table on a patio lined with shrubs and grounds thick with trees (mostly Spruce).
