Scope and Contents
A report on the U.S. Team's performance at the International Shooting Union matches in Cairo. Sgt.Gary Anderson, USAR, was the outstanding rifleman at the World Championships. His accomplishments included both the smallbore rifle and 300-M free rifle Prone match. Three of the 4 winning scores were also new World Records. In 13 team events, USA took 2 gold, 8 silver and 1 bronze medals. In the individual events the USSR and the U.S. also fought a dual for gold, silver and bronze. USA, 5 gold, 2 silver and 8 bronze. USSR, 7 gold, 8 silver and 2 bronze. In RUNNING DEER, Single-Shot 100 meters, Individual, John Foster placed 2nd w/a score of 228. USA Team, which Foster was a member of, placed 2nd w/a score of 867.
