Scope and Contents
U.S. Army marksmen conducted nearly 20 clinics during the final quarter of 1972. Most of the clinics were sponsored by Senior ROTC groups or Military Science Depts.and included classroom instruction, practical exercises in range firing and demonstration of champion marksmanship techniques, w/slides which depicted the subject along w/body positioning, breath control, sight alignment and trigger control. Periods of discussion along with Q and A sessions etc....marksmen gave practical coaching advice...helped new shooters etc. Many of the clinics were conducted in conjunction with scheduled matches in which Army coaches were able to render assistance and advice. Maj. John Foster, Chief of the Int'l Rifle Division of the Army Marksmanship Unit and distinguished Int'l. Rifle shooter holding several Gold medals in both World Shooting Championships and World Moving Target Championships was instrumental in many of these clinics. He led the sessions at the Military Academies and those in the states of WA and MT. Other states visited by the marksmen...TN, TX, KS, CO, LA, and GA. Etc.
