Scope and Contents
Army and Army Reserve marksmen win 13 of 14 events in the 14th Int'l. Interservice Shooting Championships. In the rifle phase, Capt.John Writer won the Standard Rifle w/a 574 after breaking a tie w/Capt.Lanny Bassham. Maj.Lones Wigger added the 3-position Smallbore Rifle w/1163 and the Army Rifle w/578. Wigger's 578 was a new interservice and national mark. Bassham captured the English (Prone) Match w/a 598 and the Air Rifle w/385. MTU Maj.John Foster posted a winning 1149 in the 300 meter Free Rifle Match. An impressive record was notched by the Army "Blue" Int'l.Team of Wigger, Bassham, Foster and Capt.Boyd Goldsby whose combined score of 2301 broke the world mark by 75 points. In CISM trial matches...Bassham led the rifle shooters w/a 2537.
