USAMU designated a Unit of Choice by Department of the Army in a recent message to the Recruiting Command. Individuals may enlist for duty wUSAMU provided thdy are accepted by the unit. The message said "Normally applicants for the USAMU will be identified among the competitors observed at national and international shooting matches and will have a letter of acceptance from the Commander,USAMU. Individuals who are interested in joining the USAMU but do not have such a letter are advised to contact the Commander,USAMU, Ft.Benning, GA etc....address and phone#". Etc, who is qualified...Continued assignment will depend on "their ability to maintain standards of shooting excellence that assure they will be competitive in Natl. and Int'l marksmanship matches."
