Colorado Springs, CO (Nov. 14)--Two-time Olympian John "Jack" Foster (Bozeman,MT) and William "Bill" Pullum (Sun City,AZ) have been named to the USA Shooting Int'l Shooting Hall of Fame for 1996. The official induction will take place Jan.13,1996 in Dallas, TX suring the SHOT Show, the annual shooting industry trade show. During his 18 years as an elite athlete, Foster, 59, won a total of 33 medals and set two individual and three team world records. He finished 4th in the 50-meter three-position free rifle event and 7th in the 300-meter three-position free rifle event at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. He place 7th in 300-meter three-position free rifle at the 1960 Olympics in Rome. At the 1961 World Shooting Championships, Foster won the gold medal in running deer doubles, using paper moving targets. During 1966, '70 and '74 World Shooting Championships, Foster duplicated that feat in the 300-meter rifle events with stationary targets. He is the only rifle shooter in the world to win world titles in moving and stationary target events. Foster retired from the U.S.Army as a lieutenant colonel in 1980 (article said 1977). He graduated from Northeastern High School (Springfield, OH) in 1954 and the University of MT with a degree in forestry in 1958. He currently owns and operates a mail order company for target shooting equipment. He is married to the former Trish Kinsella, a rifle shooter from the 1966 and 1970 World Championships. They have 2 daughters, Anne and Jean, a member of the 1996 USA Shooting National Team and resident athlete at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center.
