Headline:"Phoenician takes rifle meet title".Maj.John Foster, won the Standard Rifle event as the 10th U.S.Int'l.Championships moved down to the climax-the beginning today of the 300-M Free Rifle and Claybird events. Maj. Foster capped 3 days of standard rifle shooting w/a 573X600 for a 1708X1800 aggregate. His nearest competitor was Marine CWO David Boyd w/a 563 and 1700 aggregate. Foster fired a 365 to hold onto second place in Air Rifle event which was won by Maj. Lones Wigger w/1132X1200. The Air Rifle event drew considerable spectator interest as Wigger, Boyd and Foster battled down to the line for positions, Wigger used his full 90 minutes to get off the 30 shots as varying breezes whipped the tiny pellets on the outdoor range and caused a general lowering of scores.
