West Virginia's defending national champion rifle team shot the highest score in its history Saturday in a match against Geneva College, opening its 1964-65 season. The team fired a score of 1,459 out of 1,500. Geneva shot 1,354. All-Americans Dean Bahrman and Jack Writer led the scoring with 296 and 294 respectively. Other Montaineer scorers were Trish Kinsella with a 293 and Charles Pyles and Andy Holoubek with identical scores of 288. The University's previous record was 1,456 against Washington and Jefferson last year and its old home record was 1,448 against Duquesne and Penn State in 1961.
