* Photo: P.419.2684. The Randal Team. Patricia Foster was one of the coaches. Margaret Thompson was on the firing team. Marie Thompson, Margaret's sister was also a coach. * Program: (in German) Shooting sport-Landerkamph. Germany-USA-Soviet Union. From May 10th-12th, 1968. Shooting range-Freudenberg (Germany). * Newspaper clipping. Stars and Stripes. May 14. "U.S. Shooters Take 7 of 10 Events In 3-Nation Tourney; Russians 2nd" Free Rifle, 300-M. U.S. 4,526 of 4,800 possible. USSR 4,503. Individual classification: 1st Margaret Thompson 1158 of 1200, 2nd USSR 1156, 3rd John Foster 1154. * Newspaper clipping: Picture of John in shooting attire, kneeling holding rifle. Caption; Maj.John Foster wins championship aggregate and individual honors at the Murray State University Gallery match, Louisville, KY. He tallied a 798. The individual position maatches were sharply conteste. In the Prone Match, four marksmen tied for 1st place. Maj.Foster, Tricia Foster, Bill Krilling and Nels Nelson all fired a perfect 200 with 20 shots in the X-ring. The Sitting Match was shared by Lones Wigger and Tricia Foster who both fire 200 w/19 shots in the X-ring. John Foster took the Standing Match with a 198. The 2-man team was won by Foster and Krilling w/1594. Wigger and Writer 2nd w/1592. * Photo: P.419.2685. Maj.John Foster in Class B uniform accepting a trophy. * Newspaper clipping: "3 Olympians Lead Army Rifle Team" 5th Annual Derby City Open. 1st place Maj.Foster w/798 out of 800. All 1st through 4th places were won by the Army rifle team. With a 793, 1-point below the national women's aggregate record, Tricia Foster was high scorer among the tourney's female participants. She set a new ladies rifle record in the sitting position, with a perfect 200. * Newspaper clipping: "Fairbanksan Wins Match" Wiggly Iceworm Tournament. Joe Nava of Fairbanks beat John Foster in 3-Position match 783 to 782. The tournament was in Fairbanks. Foster conducted shooting clinics in Anchorage. * Newspaper clipping: "Canadian top Gun At Ohio Smallbore". Ohio State Rifle Championships fired in Columbus. Ouellette scored 1189 of 1200, John Foster was 2nd with 1187. * Newspaper clipping: "Top Marksmen to Give Firearms Clinic Here" The Army ROTC Dept. at MSU and MSU Rifle Club co-sponsored a special clinic for junior shooters and their instructors from rifle clubs all over Montana. Maj. John Foster, the chief instructor for the clinic,and Lt.Nels Nelson. * Newspaper clipping: "Riflemen Set Record" NRA Open Sectional, National Indoor Rifle Championships. New team record set by members of the MTU. New open and service record of 1593 in the 40 shot, 4-Position Match. Wigger and Writer shot perfect 400s. Krilling shot 397 and Foster shot 396. Civilian master category in the Grand Aggregate was won by Tricia Foster with 790. She set a new women's record of 200 w/ 199 additional 10's in the kneeling match. * Newspaper clipping: "U.S.Squads Topple Swiss In Shooting" Basel, Switzerland. U.S. rifle and pistol teams won four out of seven matches against Swiss teams here Mon. and Tues. Basel was the second stop in a series of 4 rifle competitions w/ European teams. U.S. teams were selected from members of the USAMTU. The riflemen head for Ulm, Germany on Wed. Both teams will fire at Stockholm on May 25 and 26. * Newspaper clipping: Navy Times. "Marine Boyd Takes Quantico Rifle Honors" Champion of Champions Shooting Match. 47 national records fell. When the match ended, David Boyd tied for 1st place w/John Writer w/an aggregate of 4085.Boyd was declared the winner because of the higher score in prone position. John Foster was 3rd with 4075. * Periodical clipping: "Foster's 1588 Wins Patapsco Regional" Patapsco Smallbore Rifle Position Regional at Marriottsville, MD. Foster's 1588-98X was tied by David Boyd, but Foster won by virtue of NRA tie-breaking rule. * Newspaper clipping: "Army Blasts records In Service Matches" Ft.Benning. 8th Annual Interservice International Shooting competition. Bill Krilling won the English Match firing 597 equaling record set in 1964 by Tommy Pool. Army Blue set an new Team record in the English Match of 2377. Lones Wigger fired a record breaking 1164 in the 3-Position. John Foster fired 1159 for 2nd and Margaret Thompson was 3rd w/ 1158. The Army Blue 3-Position Team broke their old record by 50 points, winning the match, firing an amazing 4638. Margaret Thompson won both the kneeling and standing events to capture the Free Rifle Championship with a tally of 1156. Once again Army Blue shattered their old record in the Free Rifle with a score of 4595 over their previous 4563.
