En route to the Olympics in Mexico City, they inspect special leather shooting coat with which they were fitted at 10-X Manufacturing Co. in Des Moines last week. Anderson holds calipers used to measure coat thickness to make sure it meets new Intl Shootoing Union requirements on thickness, closures and pads. Pullam, who retired in 1966 after 26 years in the army-the last 12 years as a gunnery instructor-is now living at Phoenix City AL. Anderson has been shooting in competition for 10 years and has won a string of international shooting awards including a gold medal at the last Olympics where he set a world record in the 300-M high caliber rifle event. Maj.Wigger who has been in the army seven years since graduating from Montana State Univ.,returned last Feb. from a tour of duty in Vietnam. He also was on the 1964 Olympic rifle team in Tokyo and won gold and silver medals in smallbore rifle matches, establishing a world record in three position. Maj.Foster, a graduate of the University of Montana, competed in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, Italy, then did a tour of duty in Germany. He holds the world record in the 300-M kneeling position. Lt. Writer graduated from West Virginia Univ. and has been in the army 18 months. He was of the rifle team in the Pan American Games at Winnipeg, Canada, in 1967 that won a gold medal. * Newspaper clipping: "U.S. Olympic shooting Team Arrives in SF" The U.S. Olympic shooting team will hold briefing sessions this morning at La Posada, where they are being housed. The team arrived Saturday in Santa Fe. Monday morning will mark the beginning of intensive training in preparation for the Summer Olympics in Mexico City, scheduled for next month. Michael Tipa, team coordinator who has been here since Sept.4, named the teams official party. They are E.B.Crossman, team adjutant; Bill Pullum, rifle coach....etc. * Letter: Mar.20, 1968.
