* Letter: From, Tim Babcock, Governor, State on Montana. To, Maj.John Foster. U.S.A. Delegation - Olympic Village- Mexico City. Dear Maj.Foster: I thought you might be interested in this proclamation which I issued opening day of the Olympic competition. All of us in Montana are wishing you every success. * Proclamation: Whereas, the Olympic Games bring together in open competition the finest amateur athletes in the world, and Whereas, .......etc Whereas,.......etc Whereas, four Montanans, Larry Questad of Livingston, sprinter...Major Lones Wigger, Carter, Montana's and the nation's most outstanding rifle marksman and a Gold Medal winner in the last Olympic Games...Major John Foster, a "1968" (misprint-1958) University of Montana graduate, also competing in the smallbore rifle events...and distance runner Tom Von Ruden...etc. * Letter: Sent ot the National Rifle Association, Washington D.C. From, R.W. Macro, Arcata, Calif.,Spectator at the Olympics. Gentlemen: To whom it may concern. Having just returned from the Olympics in Mexico City, it was our pleasure to be able to sit behind Major John Foster. He noticed my NRA pin and sat down and talked to my wife and myself. Took the trouble to explain the signals so we could keep our own score. In our opinion, we, (the USA) couldn't be represented by a more congenial young man. I don't know if we (the NRA) have any hand in this fine young man's training. If we have it is certainly to our credit....Yours sincerely, R.W. Macro
