MSU varsity lost a shoulder-to-shoulder match 1851 to 1848. * "Hamilton Shooters Win" Hamilton beat MSU Varsity 1401 to 1381. John Foster was high for Varsity with 288 and 92 offhand. * "Varsity Riflemen Defeat Victor With 1388 Score" MSU's varsity riflemen defeated a Victor team 1388 to 1383 and captured a B team svore of 1367, as John Foster shot an offhand score of 98 with iron sights. Army ROTC team members; of which Foster is one. The university varsity team is made up of students not enrolled in ROTC and the top men from the Army and Air Force teams. The AFROTC fires post matches with other Air Force university teams throughout the country and the Army team with other Army teams in the U.S. The varsity team fires with other teams in the Western Montana Smallbore League. * "Montana Varsity Defeats Victor".
