Schessler accepted the plaque as captain of the team and also accepted a medal as member of the NRA Northwest regional championship team and a cup as a member of the second place team in Western Montana Smallbore team. John Foster, won a medal as a member of second place team in 6th Army W.R.Hearst Match, a belt buckle for Individual Championship in the Hearst Match, a Medal as Pershing Rifle National Champion for 1955, a medal as a member of the NRA Northwest regional championship team, a medal as NRA Champion for the Northwest region and a cup as a member of second place team in Western Montana Smallbore League. During the 1955-56 period the team won 58 out of 63 postal matches. Cadet John Foster placed first in the Hearst Trophy Shoot. The team took first place in NRA shoulder to shoulder match at Seattle. * The Montana Kaimin, "MSU Rifle Team Outshoots MSC"...MSU 1901 to 1828 to retain the Betsy Rotcy trophy. The University has lost this trophy only once to the Bobcats since the trophy match was started in 1950. MSU and MSC ROTC rifle teams fire for the trophy 3 times a year, amd 1951 was the only time MSC won the trophy. The individual results fired by the MSU team: David, 387; Foote, 386; John Foster, 386.
