Foster took the lead after her 9th shot, which scored 10.2 out of a possible 10.9. She scored 677.3 to edge Pam Vossen, 676.9 2.) “Bozeman’s Jean Foster second in shooting trial” The women’s 3 X 20 rifle competition runner-up after the first 2 days was Jean Foster who shot 674.5 for a 1253.5 total. 3.) “Foster’s Olympic medal bid stopped” A Yugoslavian took the lead in the finals and went on to a run-away victory in the women’s 3-positon rifle event at the Olympics. Russia took silver and Poland took 3rd. Jean Foster finished 12th in the preliminaries. Only the top 8 shooters advance to the finals.
