Scope and Contents
“Behind the Gold”. Pg.18. competing at major international events is nothing new to the WVU rifle contingent: Coach Marsha Beasley and Mountaineer shooter Jean Foster (’93), Eric Uptagrafft (’95) and Bruce Meredith (’62). Meredith is a 2-time Olympian, having won a silver medal at the 1968 games. Foster’s father Jack shot on the ’60 and ’68 U.S. teams. Her mother, Trish Kinsella Foster, shot on the Mountaineers’ 1966 Nat’l champion team and 3 World Championship teams in 1966, ’70 and ’72. Foster failed in her bid to win a medal, finishing 12th in the women’s 3-position rifle preliminaries. Only the top 8 advanced to the finals. The Bozeman, MT native plans to continue shooting and perhaps make a bid to qualify for the 2000 games.
