Education Package: Modesto High School Day of Respect by Sharon Froba., October 1999
Scope and Contents
Statement from Sharon Yosiph Froba on the purpose for the class: “If you question the value of this event, think of the Colorado killings and the hate crimes of the summer. We used to live in a world where reading, writing, and ‘rithmetic’ were enough. They aren’t enough in today’s world. We must teach a fourth R: respect. We don’t want educated Eichmanns or skilled psychopaths. The Day of Respect has the power to open students’ minds by moving their hearts. If you care about creating a better, safer world, you must get involved.” ARTICLE: by Sharon F. July 1998: Teaching the Intolerant. And – The Power of the Personal Story.
