The Gardena Valley News, Dec. 20, 1980: Beethoven’s music meant survival for Matsumura. Picture with caption: Ludwig Van – Gardenan Roy Matsumura poses with a copy of a drawing of Beethoven which was sketched in a Japanese internment camp during World War II. Matsumura has printed 1,000 of these drawings and I offering them for sale. Letter sent by George Sunada to Mr. Jeffers Feb. 20, 1942 Re: the action of laying off all Japanese in employment of the Union Pacific Railroad.
