TAKESHI “TAK” and PATRICIA “PAT” YAMAMOTO. Internees. Letter: to all those involved in the HMWF., Sept. 3, 1999
Scope and Contents
In part, reads: We feel strongly that your work and dreams to present the Heart Mountain story should be done there in Wyoming. However, we feel that the expense of building a museum on the original site would seem prohibitive. The maintenance would also seem prohibitive. And the number of people who would make the extra trip to see the museum would probably not justify the cost. Also, the idea of moving a half-block of buildings would again be difficult to maintain. These buildings were never meant to be permanent structures. Our proposed building plan for HMWF: is to build a new wing to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody. It seems the Center is the most visible and the most visited site in Cody. Etc. Why not bring the building to Cody and to commemorate the past events or use space within the existing museum, if there is such space? We saw many tour buses stopped at the Center the Other day. We can envision many Japanese tourists, getting of the buses and filing into the HMWF museum in the future. Etc.
