Letter from Bacon Sakatani Re: Plaques, Memorials – Text and photocopy of American Legion Monument at Heart Mtn. on highway in front of where the camp used to be. - Monument erected in 1977 by the organizations listed on the plaque and “dedicated to those people interned here during WWII, to their sons and daughters who served our country, and to those who gave their lives in that service.” – Plaque and photocopy erected by Dept. of the Interior, billings, MT, 1986, Inside HM Memorial Park, by Honor Roll. – Photocopy of the monument erected by the Heart Mountain High School Class of 1947, inside Memorial Park, by Honor Roll in Sept. 1985. “This Memorial Plaque is Dedicated to the more than 600 Internees who left Heart Mountain to serve in the U.S. Armed forces during WWII and to the memory of the 22 Heart Mountaineers who gave their lives for Our Country. Bacon is requesting and a new Monument – because inaccurate statements were put up (on the American Legion Monument) and the new Monument should be done by the Internees.
