Scope and Contents
VHS – “Comforting the Afflicted” Executive Order No. 9066, issued on Feb. 19, 1942, called for the relocation of 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry, from the West Coast, to ten concentration camps. More than 60 percent of the people were U.S. citizens. Hear the stories of four men whose lives, ministry, and faith were impacted and shaped by this experience. Two unexpectedly found themselves as young pastors to many people trying to make sense of the turmoil and injustice of the incarceration. The other two, children at the outbreak of WWII, became pastors to those trying to heal from the scars of their experiences. The Rev. Paul Nagano, The Rev. John Miyabe, Bishop Roy Sano, and The Rev. Sam Tonomura.
