Nov.23: "City Park Name Changed to Honor Ex-Mayor P.Stock" - Former Mayor Paul Stock was honored Monday night when the Cody city council voted unanimously to change the name of the park for which he donated a $46,000 music shell. Hereafter, it shall be known as "Paul Stock Park." Dec.7: "The 'real' Santa Claus came early this year to Cody citizens. Santa Claus, in the form of Paul Stock, brought a bulging bag of joy and happiness to the City of Cody and School District Six last Wednesday when he made a gift of securities having a current market value in excess of $100,000. Mayor Carl Krueger and Fred Legler, President of the School Board, announced jointly that the city and school had received from Stock a gift in excess of $100,000 to be used to acquire title to the Buffalo Bill Museum property east of 8th Street. The city is to acquire title to the Museum tract east of 8th St.,south of Sheridan Ave., and north of Beck Ave. This tract is to be included within the Park system and Stock has stipulated that the property be preserved and protected for public use and enjoyment and not be used for commercial purposes as has been previously discussed. The school is to acquire title to the athletic field which it has been using under lease from the Buffalo Bill Memorial Association. The School district will now be in a position to make improvements on this tract, which it could not previously make because of the leasehold arrangement. Etc. In 1966 Stock made a gift in excess of $50,000 to the city for the construction of the bandshell in the park. In earlier years he joined with the Rotarians in erecting the War Memorial located at the northeast corner of the Park. Stock has always shown a great interest in any activity or project that would improve or beautify the City of Cody. Etc.
