Pamphlet – Second Annual U.S. Shooting Team - U.S. International Shooting Hall of Fame Luncheon and Press Conference. Bulletin, For Immediate Release; New Orleans, LA (Jan.11) – Rifle shooting great Margaret Thompson Murdock, known as a pioneer for Women’s involvement in shooting sports, has been selected as the 1992 inductee to the U.S. International Shooting Hall of Fame, U.S. Shooting Team (USST) Director Lones Wigger announced today at the Shot Show. Murdock, the first woman to be honored with Hall of Fame status, joins an elite circle comprised of rifle shooting stars Gary Anderson and Lones Wigger, plus deceased greats Morris Fisher (rifle) and Alfred Lane (pistol). “As a former teammate of Margaret’s, it’s especially meaningful for me to be presenting her with this award,” said Wigger. “She was a real competitor. I admire her not only for her achievements on the range, but for what her success did to open-up the sport to women.” Hall of Fame candidates are nominated and voted on annually by the 34-member NRA Int’l Competitions Committee and living Hall of Fame members. Murdock won the balloting with 20 votes. “This recognition means a lot to me because it’s from my friends in the sport,” she said. “And the competition was tough.” Continued…. Brief Bio.
