K.S.U. Rifle Team. K.S. vs Clay Center & Abilene. Newspaper clippings. Manhattan Mercury, “’Cats’ Sharpshooters Again Blast Foes”, The Kansas State University rifle team won two dual matches . K-State marksmen fired at Clay Center against the Clay Center Rifle Club and emerged victorious, 1925-1828. The shooters fired against the Abilene Rifle Club and again came out on top, 1915-1874. Margaret Thompson was the high scoring individual in both matches against Clay Center, she fired a 392 and against Abilene she came up with a 391 score. – “’Cats’ Sharpshooters remain Undefeated”, The K-State varsity rifle team posted its eighth straight win of the season in the Central Kansas League by outshooting the Abilene Rifle Club last night by the score of 1925-1880.
