XXI Olympics. USA Shooting News & Unknown publication. “Olympic Shooting Sports History”, 1976, July 17-Aug.1
Scope and Contents
Shooting: It’s a shame that TV cameras have never seen fit to cover shooting at the Olympic Games or Pan American Games. The USA is ranked right at the top of world-wide shooting, and no one ever sees them on TV. At Munich the USA garnered two gold and two silver medals (all in rifle events). Prediction: Margaret Murdock in the smallbore rifle event will be the first woman to represent the USA in shooting. She’s been Pan American champion in ’67, ’75. Other top riflemen: Maj. Lones Wigger, USA flagbearer at the ’75 Pan American Games; Vic Auer, 2nd in the English Match in ’72; John Writer, ’72 smallbore, three-position champion, and David Ross.
