The American Marksman, “1976 U.S. Olympic Shooting Team Will Include Five Veterans, First Woman to Represent America”, …Shooters for the rifle and pistol teams were selected at the 16th Annual U.S. International Shooting Championships at the Black Canyon Range in Phoenix, AZ, June 5-18….Army Capt. Lanny Bassham, a silver medalist in the 1972 Olympics and this year’s world champion in 300-meter rifle, will compete in the 3-position smallbore event. Joining Bassham will be Capt. Margaret Murdock USAR, the first woman to compete on a U.S. Olympic shooting team.
