One of the most interesting facets of the 39th World Championships was the performance of St. Margaret L. Thompson, WAC, as a firing member of the U.S. 300-meter Free-Rifle and the 50-meter Smallbore Teams which established new World Records. In addition to providing the pivotal scores in the Free-Rifle and Smallbore World Record Team events, she proceeded to win the Ladies Standard Rifle 3-position event. Petite Lt. Thompson has proven to the doubters that a lady is fully capable of firing the same program as the more stalwart men.
