In the Smallbore three-position match, world champion Margaret Thompson scored 1152 points. Our picture shows the American woman standing.” “Thompson Leads U.S.”, Wiesbaden, Germany (AP) – The United States won seven of 10 competitions in a three-nation-shooting tournament Sunday. Best shooter was Margaret Thompson, a former Kansas State coed, of the U.S. who scored 380 of 400 possible points with the rifle, standing position. That was four points more than the official world record held by August Hollenstein of Switzerland, but con not be recognized since records can be registered only when they are set at world, continental or Olympic championships. The 25-year-old American also won smallbore rifle shooting three-position with 1158 of 1200 points. “U.S. Team Tops shooting Match.”
