CISM – Newspaper clippings: “Marksmen Fire Final Shots in France” – The Bayonet, Fort Benning, “MTU Shooters Lead U.S. Team to Sweep in ‘Military Olympics’”, In the 300-meter Free Rifle Precision, Whitacre won the match with a 561. He was followed by Capt. Margaret Thompson, U.S. Army, 555. Whitaker also captured the individual championship with a total of 1079. Finland’s Rosenquist finished second and M.Sgt. Willilam Krilling, U.S. Army and Thompson finished third and fourth, respectively. Krilling won the Three-position Smallbore contest with tally of 1161. His army teammate Thompson place second with 1158 (it doesn’t specify which Thompson this is. There were 2 from the U.S.)
