NRA National Championships – Newspaper clippings – Capital- Journal, “Topekan Takes National Crown.” The Bayonet, Ft. Benning, “WAC Capt. Defends Top rifle Title.” Capt. Margaret Murdock has successfully defended her Smallbore Rifle Position Championship title for the fifth consecutive year during the national Matches just completed at Camp Perry, OH. Capt. Murdock added another “first” to her credit by becoming the first woman to win that title five years in a row. She is also the first woman ever to compete in the World Shooting Championships, the first woman to compete and win at the 1967 Pan American Games and is still the only member of the Women’s Army Corps to wear the Distinguished International Shooters Badge. “Murdock Wins Perry Rifle Championship.”
