Results – 12th U.S. N.R.A. International Championships and Final Tryouts for the Olympic Team, Black Canyon Range, Phoenix, AZ. First Day Results, English Match, M. Murdock was 6th, score 594. Second Day Results, M. Murdock was 3rd, score 591. Third Day Results, M. Murdock was 6th, score 595. Final Bulletin, M. Murdock was 2nd, score – 1780. Smallbore Rifle 3-Position, June 19-21 – Final Bulletin, M. Murdock finished 9th. A note from her sister, Marie Alkire, stated the Margaret had difficulty with the extreme heat in Phoenix. She barely was able to finish the kneeling and had a very high pulse rate. It cost her the Olympic Team in 1972.
