Newspaper clipping – “Army Shooters Present Awards To Callaway, Secretary of the Army” from the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, Fort Benning, GA, presented their 1973 championship trophies to the Honorable Howard (Bo) Callaway, Secretary of the Army, in formal Pentagon ceremonies Dec.12 in Washington, D.C., etc. Three of the nation’s most outstanding women champions were on hand. They were Spec. 5 Joanne R. Stawski, Nat’l Women’s High Power Rifle Champion and Nat’l Women’s Service Rifle Champion. Nat’l Women’s Pistol Champion Sgt. 1C Barbara Hile, and Army Reserve Capt. Margaret Murdock, winner of the Smallbore Rifle Prone Championship at eh U.S. International Championships at Phoenix, AZ., etc. Of the shooters assembled for the ceremony, Wigger, Writer, and Murdock are three of the four-man U.S. International Rifle team which set a world record in Smallbore Rifle Three Position at the Tournament of Americas in Mexico City this past August. The fourth man, Capt. Lanny Bassham, was unable to make the trip.
