Newspaper articles – Army Times, “Surprise”, NO FEMALE had ever won a major high-powered rifle match at Camp Perry until this pretty WAC, 2d Lt. Margaret Thompson, did it last week. Over 2,000 of the top male shooters in the nation tipped their hats to her after she fired a possible 100-5V to WIN The NAVY CUP. – “WAC Breaks Men’s Rifle Monopoly – Thompson Wins Navy Cup at Perry” - The Bayonet, Ft. Benning, “ON TV SHOW”, 2d Lt Margaret Thompson of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Training Unit, the only woman to ever win a High-Power Rifle Match in the national championships, will appear on CBS’ “TO TELL the TRUTH” Monday, Sept. 20.
