Army Times, “14 Soldiers Earn Slots As Pan-Am Shooters” Pictures of Margaret Murdock and Gary Anderson. – “WAC Lt. Thompson Ties World Record”, Army 1st Lt. Margaret Thompson showed the men how it’s done with a smallbore rifle at the Pan-Am Game on July 28 as she tied the world record in shooting from the kneeling position while winning a gold medal in the three-position competition. From the kneeling position, the 24-year-old lieutenant scored 391, matching the world mark set by a Russian in 1958. Her total score was 1152 which broke the Pan-Am record of 1147 set in 1963 by Lt.
