Margaret Murdock Hangs Up Guns; Dons Aprons” - *The News and Courier, Charleston, SC. – Article – “Champion Shooter Hangs Up Her Rifle”, A World Champion rifle Shooter has hung up her rifle to become a civilian, a wife, and a mother. Capt. Margaret Murdock left the Army and the U.S. Army Marksmanship Training Unit at Fort Benning, GA, in March to join her Marine Chief Warrant Officer husband at Parris Island. Margaret Murdock entered the national limelight of the sports world in 1966 when she won the World Championship title for Women’s Standard Rifle three position event at the World Championships in Wiesbaden, Germany.
