Biographical / Historical
Born in Solingen, Prussia on November 28, 1819, and grew up in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Bierstadt was a photographer who specialized in stereoscopic views. His photography business was based in Niagara Falls, New York. He traveled the country taking photographs before returning to Niagara Falls, where he died in 1903.
