Scope and Contents
The Buffalo Bill Memorial Association (BBMA) found in 1917 is the legal entity of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center now the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. The BBMA Archives consist of correspondence, museum acquisitions records including correspondence, collections lists & appraisals, minutes & agendas, financial records, press releases, histories, blueprints, pamphlets, photographs, newspaper clippings and legal documents such as by-laws, contracts, wills, and trusts relating to the creation, administration and expansion of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. Board correspondence consists primarily of correspondence handled by Ernest J. Goppert, Sr. , longtime president of the Board of Trustees. Mary Jester Allen, Helen Cody Allan, Director Dr. Harold McCracken, and Dick Frost are also represented.
