Biographical or Historical Information

Olive Fell was born on Big Timber Creek near the Crazy Mountains in Montanain 1902. She early in life developed an interest in what she saw, mainly the wild animals and mountain scenery, an interest she was never to lose. In their line of work, the family came to the Cody area when the children were quite young and here the father disappears from her story, at which time her mother apparently remarried since from the then on she was known in Cody as Mrs.Oskins. Most of Olive's early schooling apparently had been what could be taught by her mother as they moved around but it is definitely known that she attended and graduated from Cody High School in the same class as did former Governor of Wyoming and State Senator, Milward Simpson. She had been doing drawing and other art work under her maiden name never having given it up, and Olive Fell she was to remain the rest of her life. Olive Fell turned out over 13,000 prints which she sold for her living. In February of 1980, Olive died at the age of 77 and the main street flower shop formerly run by her mother, was full of her latest work.
