Washakie Museum Library
Abstract
The Museum's library houses 1400 books which include ledgers, yearbooks, scrapbooks, periodicals, media materials, reference materials, as well as works of fiction all of which focus on the Big Horn Basin and its history. Many of the books were published over 100 years ago, with the earliest publication dated 1797. The Museum has Governor William Richards', law books (fourth governor of Wyoming), old editions of the Bible, early medical textbooks, Session Laws of Wyoming starting in 1901, primer readers, as well as Worland High School yearbooks starting in the year 1913. The library contains books by local authors and scholars such as John W. Davis, George Frison, Paul Frison, Ray Pendergraft, and Vera Saban. The following are a list of subjects that can be found at the library: agriculture, American Indians, art, biographies, business practices, catalogs, directories, educational books, fiction, geography, geology, guides/handbooks, books in German (from early residents), history, books in Japanese(from early residents), law, ledgers, mammals, medical, military, music, oil, paleontology, periodicals, poetry, reference, religious, scrapbooks, VHS tapes, and books on water usage.
