Abstract

Photographs of Native American Indians by Roland Reed, probably taken primarily in Montana (including Glacier National Park) circa 1909-1915.  Most of the photographs are posed, showing the subjects outdoors wearing traditional clothing, often next to scenic natural features such as waterfalls, streams, and rock formations.  Some were published in James Willard Schultz’s Blackfeet Tales of Glacier National Park, 1916.

Abstract This photographic collection housed at the BIA, Wind River Agency, Ft. MS 048 - Robert Coe Sketchbooks Collection

Abstract

Fourteen sketchbooks and nine loose sketches by Robert Coe, primarily in pencil and charcoal.  The sketchbooks depict a variety of subjects, from buildings to dogs to landscapes.  There are many drawings of locations in Europe and a few of the area around Cody, Wyoming.  The loose sketches depict architecture and nudes, and were probably done for a class, as they all have grades penciled on them.  Some of the drawings in the collection have dates, but most do not.

Abstract Eighteen hand-tinted stereograph cards and seven postcards depicting Native American Indians.  The stereographs date from c. 1898 – c. 1899, and some of them include a copyright statement by T. W. Ingersoll.  All the stereograph cards are similar in format, with a number and title printed on the front underneath the image and several paragraphs of text on the back.  The postcards (©1986) reproduce sepia photographs of Native Americans in Taos, New Mexico taken by B.
