MS 043 - Roland Reed Photographs
Photographs of Native American Indians by Roland Reed, probably taken primarily in Montana (including Glacier National Park) circa 1909-1915. Most of the photographs are posed, showing the subjects outdoors wearing traditional clothing, often next to scenic natural features such as waterfalls, streams, and rock formations. Some were published in James Willard Schultz’s Blackfeet Tales of Glacier National Park, 1916.
MS 051 - Western Scenes: Woodcuts and Engravings
Collection consists of various published images of western scenes cut out of various publications, including Picturesque and Marvels of the New World, as well as French and German language books and newspapers. The plates represent scenes from the American west and give a good indication of how the United States was pictured in the mid-nineteenth century.
MS 056 - Rinehart Indian Photograph Collection
The F.A. Rinehart Indian Photographic collection consists of 33 standard size images, and 118 oversize images of Native American Indians in a photographic studio setting, with approximately 10 images taken outside of a studio setting.
