Biographical or Historical Information
Haynes photographs played a big role in Yellowstone Park, starting in 1885. The stores were places where visitors could order photographs of the park. F.J. Haynes was in charge of Haynes Inc until 1915 when his son, Jack Ellis, took over the business. The pictures in the collection are from after 1915 when J.E. Haynes took over the business. This can be determined by the order number that is seen on the back of the photographs which are 5 digits. F.J. Haynes used 4 digit order numbers and J.E. Haynes used 5 digit order numbers.
