Abstract

Photographs of Native American Indians by Roland Reed, probably taken primarily in Montana (including Glacier National Park) circa 1909-1915.  Most of the photographs are posed, showing the subjects outdoors wearing traditional clothing, often next to scenic natural features such as waterfalls, streams, and rock formations.  Some were published in James Willard Schultz’s Blackfeet Tales of Glacier National Park, 1916.

Photographs taken by the Lois Barker family on a vacation from Minnesota to Yellowstone and the Tetons. They passed through South Dakota and visited Mount Rushmore during the time of construction and took many photographs of men working on the faces. Photographs of sites around Rapid City are also included.
