Russians beat the U.S at Helsinki in 1952 and at Melbourne in 1956. If U.S. outshoots Russians in Rome it will be the result of intense, imaginative work being done by the Advanced, Marksmanship Unit of the U.S. Army at Ft. Benning now under command of Col. R. Montgomery and direction of Lt. Col. T.J. Sharpe. Lt. Daniel Puckel and Verle Wright are the 2 best shooters on the team. No mention of Foster, but he had just joined the AMU after graduating from MSU in 1958.

Scope and Contents After graduating from Northeastern High School in 1954, Foster enrolled and graduated from the Univ. of MT where he majored in forestry. Foster was in Rome twice. The 1st time, the Army sent the shooters there to get the "feel" of things. The 1st time there, the city seemed dirty. But the Italians cleaned it up and they did a fine job of hosting the games.
